Advocacy 101: Lead Where You Live. Local Action. National Impact.
Because real change starts on your street, not just in Parliament.
Introducing Advocacy 101 – A New Canada HPAC Initiative
For the Hindu Canadian community to have its voice heard and become a meaningful force in Canada’s democratic system, advocacy is essential. While national-level advocacy often gets the spotlight, Canada HPAC believes the true strength of our community begins locally—in every town and city across the country.
That’s why we are launching “Advocacy 101”—a new national series of training sessions to equip Hindu Canadians with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to engage effectively with public officials at all levels of government.
Why Local Advocacy Matters
From school board trustees to city councillors/mayors, MLAs/MPPs, and Members of Parliament, every level of government plays a role in shaping policies that affect our community. If we want to be heard, respected, and represented, we must actively engage with these institutions—not just in major cities, but in every region across Canada. Local advocacy:
- Educates elected officials and public servants about who Hindu Canadians are
- Highlights our contributions to Canadian society
- Brings forward the issues and concerns that matter most to our families
- Helps foster mutual respect, inclusion, and understanding between communities
- Lays the foundation for future political leadership and representation
About the Series: Advocacy 101
Advocacy 101 is a practical, interactive event series where participants will learn:
- How to engage with elected officials and local institutions
- How to prepare and present community concerns
- The importance of strategic communication and persistence
- How advocacy can be the first step toward running for public office or supporting those who do
You don’t need to be a politician to make a difference—you just need to show up, speak up, and stay committed.
